The ladies that people either love, or love to hate will take Miami by a storm for season three but with some new changes and additions. WELLINGTON, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand police have alerted law enforcement agencies in South America after a convicted murderer escaped and fled to Chile.


Phillip John Smith fled to Chile on Thursday on a passport obtained in his birth name Phillip John Traynor, New Zealand law enforcement chiefs said at a televised press conference on Monday.


Smith, 40, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1996 for stabbing to death a man in Wellington whose son he had been sexually abusing, Radio New Zealand reported.


The Department of Corrections, the Department of Internal Affairs and the police were working together to determine how Smith had got a passport, made arrangements to leave New Zealand, and who helped him.


"Police have, through Interpol, notified the Chilean authorities of Mr Smith's criminal history, status and known identities," they said in a statement.


"Police will pursue all available avenues to return Mr Smith to New Zealand, where he would be likely to face further charges due to his absconding."


The main opposition Labor Party demanded an inquiry into how the Department of Corrections only became aware of Smith's disappearance two days after the fact.


"He was denied parole for a fourth time last year because he was still considered to be 'high risk' and a 'serious danger' to the community," Labor corrections spokesperson Jacinda Ardern said in a statement.


"He should have been monitored by both probation and corrections staff, yet his disappearance was not discovered for several days. It is incomprehensible that his 'no show' was not reported the moment he failed to arrive at his release address and that this was not picked up earlier by Corrections."
